Welcome to Greenhorns!
A weird space roleplaying game where you embark on dangerous missions, crash through volatile societal structures, and survive the strange.
Play as Kruxians, highly evolved and deeply flawed humanoids, bringing new life into the cosmos and protecting your home planet from rogue vengeful anomalies and, of course, the dangers within.
Planet creation missions feel like dungeon diving, bounty hunting missions require toppling enemy schemes, and Kruxor, the crew's home planet, is an everchanging sandbox ready to implode. Glass cannon characters utilize limited skills for stand out moments while auto-hit combat encourages tactical play. Narrative tools allow players to build the world with the GM while simple d20 dice mechanics randomize results.
152-pages broken down into 20 pages of rules, 20 pages of guidance, 80+ pages of seven ready-to-play missions and sandbox shore leave, and the rest split between supporting random tables and resources.

Is this based on an established system, or is it something you came up with? What would you compare the gameplay to?
Hey! It's built off the chassis of Down We Go, plays with a simple d20 system with auto-hit combat, and shares similarities of gameplay with OSR (in the sense of lethality and gameplay around tactical choices to set yourself up for success vs running into combat for instance). It also has substantial narrative tools for players to build the world and environment they explore vs purely from the GM. Of course groups can lean into one or the other to fit their preferences.
I encourage you to pick up the Greenhorns Essentials version which is free/PWYW if you want to make sure it'll be a good fit. It has all of the rules and narrative tools so you can get the full feel of the game before diving into the full hardcover PDF experience.
